Ranked: World’s Most Influential Countries, 2021

Unsurprisingly, the United States tops the list of the world’s most influential countries, according to the CEOWORLD magazine. Russia ranked third, narrowly behind China (No. 2) and above Germany (No. 4) and France (No. 5). The countries seen to make the most impact on the global stage are North America, Europe, and Asia.

The United States of America undoubtedly tops the chart of the world’s most influential countries, leading the world in science, sports, technology, etc. The country features the world’s most powerful economy and military followed by a huge economy. While homing numerous entrepreneurs, the country is the creator of various exemplary products like Apple and Facebook. The USA’s cultural influence extends across the world. With the largest naval fleet in the world, the US continues to be the world’s only superpower in terms of military influence. The US also provides the greatest amount of international aid with billions of dollars to the UN every year.

Despite economic uncertainty around Brexit and a shrinking military, the United Kingdom ranked above the likes of Japan (No. 7) and India (No. 8) for its ability to sway the opinions and behaviors of nations, people, and organizations around the world.

Detailed findings & methodology: 2021 Most Influential Countries ranking draws from a global perception-based survey and countries are ranked based on the highest scores among more than 280,600 experts including politicians and business leaders in a compilation of 11 country attributes military power, strong international alliances; well-respected country’s leadership; international trade and travel; economic might; country’s culture; diplomatic influence; global diaspora; media influence; being helpful to other countries in need; and how connected those countries are to the rest of the world. The survey was conducted between December 12, 2020, and January 20, 2021, gathering over 280,600 replies. Each attribute was graded on a 1-100 scale.

Detailed survey data and information collected directly from 280,600 individuals, across 11 data points. Experts including politicians, business leaders, global business executives, and policy experts were asked to rate countries on a scale of 1 “marginal” to 100 “outstanding” or “don’t know.” The margin of sampling error for the full sample of 280,600 respondents is plus or minus 1.2 percentage points. In addition to sampling error, one should bear in mind that as in all survey research, there are possible sources of error—such as coverage, nonresponse, and measurement error——that could affect the results.

RANKED: World’s Best Countries For Women, 2020

Sweden was ranked the best country in the world for women, according to a new report recently published by the CEOWORLD magazine. Denmark and the Netherlands follow up in second and third place, respectively. Norway ranks 4th. Eight out of the top ten countries for women are in Europe, including Finland (No. 6), Switzerland (No. 7), France (No. 9), and Germany (No. 10); the list also included Canada (No. 5) and New Zealand (No. 8). The 2020 rankings placed Luxembourg in 11th ahead of Austria into 12th; while Italy ranked 13th and Spain 14th. Overall, among the top 20 best countries in the world, for women to live, the 15th, 16th, and 17th positions are held by Japan, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

There is a universal pattern of discrimination and crime against women, but volume and intensity differ from country to country. Regional, racial, and socio-economic factors play a crucial role in determining the objectification of the feminine body and gender equality. Frankly, there is no country in the world that is 100% safe for women with the freedom to live equally. But, some countries are better than others when it comes to equal rights, social inclusion, and a sense of security.

Based on a survey of nearly 256,700 women around the world, CEOWORLD magazine has released its annual ranking of the Best Countries for Women. To produce the Best Countries for Women list, 156 countries were given scores across 9 attributes: gender equality, percentage of legislative seats held by women, sense of security (females 15 years and older who report feeling safe while walking alone at night), income equality, care about human rights, women empowerment, average years of education among women, women age 25 and older who are engaged in paid work, and women’s inclusion in society.

Each country was given an equally-weighted score across 9 attributes in order to produce the women-focused ranking. Unsurprisingly, Scandinavian countries dominated the list. The latest data show that some of the worst countries for women have achieved gains, even as some of the best are lagging in crucial areas.

There is no doubt women are participating more and have relatively more liberty to rise and shine in the modern era, but the rate of progress is very slow, especially in third world countries. In simple terms, half of the world population is living with a sense of insecurity, and we cannot ever make this world a better place with the half population living in fear. If you compare the level of women’s empowerment around the world, measured in terms of security, justice, and inclusion, then you will find European countries, especially Scandinavian countries doing great. In contrast, some developed countries are still far behind in the race to create a holistic ecosystem for women to flourish with freedom.

Best Countries for Women: Nature doesn’t discriminate people as it offers equal opportunity to all to live and shine according to potential. Idealistically, women should have more freedom to do whatever they want to do as they are the ones who are taking the human civilization forward. Here are some of the countries giving more freedom and power to women, and you can see how it is intrinsically linked to the happiness index.

Sweden: Sweden is the most favorite country for women to live and shine. For over 10 million Swedish, there is no such thing as gender discrimination; the country score of 99.7 says it all. If you are coming from the U.S. or the Far East, you will find women playing a more proactive role in day-to-day life. It is more like hyper-equal as you aren’t conditioned to see women fully independent.

Denmark: Denmark, the country of 5.8 million with the highest ranking in the human development index, is rated as the second-best country for women in 2020. On the scale of 100, the country scores 99.4. The Scandinavian country is breaking all possible gender barriers to let women progress according to potential.

The Netherlands: The Netherlands is another north European country with the highest rating in the list of the best countries for women to live. With perfect 99.2 country score, the trillion-dollar country of 17 million people showing remarkable progress on the income equality front. The country is known for its socio-cultural openness, which is a bit shocking for outsiders.

Norway: Norwegians are known for gender equality, the country is at the top in HDI ranking, and when it comes to country score, it sores perfect 98.7. With a per capita GDP of $82,000, the country is redefining the benchmark of inclusive growth.

Canada: Outside Europe, Canada ranks best in the Americas for building a society respectful for women. The country scores 98.3, but it lags behind European topper. For 38 million multicultural Canadians, women empowerment comes from the underlying philosophy of “just society” for all.

Finland: The country is setting a benchmark of gender equality in all spheres of life. With a country score of 97.5, the country fares equally well on the income equality front. Finland is at 12th position in HDI ranking with a per capita GDP of over $50,000, meaning the country is offering an equal opportunity for everyone to grow.

Switzerland: The most beloved country also has an exceptionally high-country score of 97.1. For 8 million Swiss, all are equal, and you could feel the gender equality and empowerment across the country.

According to an article published by The New York Times, women in Sweden now represent 46% of the parliament and 50% of the government’s cabinet. No country is perfect. The socio-cultural definition of safety, security, and empowerment varies from culture to culture. Australia and New Zealand also rank very high in terms of women’s empowerment and progress.
