Лондон – столица Великобритании и Северной Ирландии

Букингемский дворец – р езиденция английской королевы

Попав на Трафальгарскую площадь просто невозможно ощутить одиночество . Здесь когда-то были королевские конюшни , а сегодня здесь любят бывать все туристы, приехавшие в Лондон . Здесь всегда шумно и многолюдно . Здесь проводятся парады, а лондонцы , сберегая давнюю традицию , приходят на Трафальгарскую площадь и в новогоднюю ночь. Трафальгарская площадь – главная площадь Лондона

Биг Бен — это самые большие четырехсторонние часы с колоколами и третья по высоте часовая башня в мире.

Другая, всемирно известная достопримечательность Лондона – крепость-тюрьма Тауэр, была основана в 1067 году королем Вильгельмом I Завоевателем как крепость , для отражения атак неприятеля . На протяжении своего существования Тауэру довелось быть и королевским дворцом, и тюрьмой, и, даже, зоопарком . Сегодня в Тауэре хранятся бесценные сокровища британской короны.

Взглянуть на Лондон можно с Тауэрского моста . Башни моста имеют подъемные механизмы , которые позволяют поднимать и опускать два его пролета. Раньше, когда большие корабли проходили по Темзе , его разводили по несколько раз в день.

Еще одна достопримечательность Лондона носит название «Лондонский глаз». С колеса обозрения, самого большого в мире , открывается неповторимая панорама города.

The symbol and the flag. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland uses as its national flag known as the Union Flag or Union Jack. The symbol of England is red rose.

Trafalgar Square It is the central square of London and traditional place for people to meet.

The Houses of Parliament It is a place where the British Government sits. It consists of three parts: the Royal Apartments, the House of Lords and the House of Commons.

Big Ben It’s a clock in the tower and it is a big bell. You can hear it every hour. It weighs 13.5 tons.

Tower Bridge It is the oldest and famous bridge across the Thames. It was made of wood by the Romans, but it was often burnt down. Later it was made of stone.

The Tower of London It has a long history. In the past it was a fortress, a prison, a castle and a zoo. It was built to protect the city from the enemies. There are a lot of ravens at this place. Nowadays this building is a very popular museum.

Buckingham Palace It’s the London home of the Queen. Buckingham Palace was built between 1702 and 1705. The palace is open to public.

Oxford Street It is the biggest shopping street in London. There are 548 shops in Oxford Street.

The theme of the lesson: London sightseeing tour.

A tour around London. We’ll visit some places of interest on a red double-decker bus. It is waiting for you. The bus will stop at the stations let’s speak about them when the bus is coming up.

As you know London is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It has a lot of interesting historical and modern places to visit. Today we are going to visit some interesting places in London. You can see these places, read and listen to the information about them. And can do some tasks. But first let’s see what you know about London.

London is small. It stands on the river Thames. The Romans built a town on the River Thames. The first name of the town was Londinium. The Tower of London was a museum in Roman times. The Queen of England lives in White Tower. Big Ben is a church. London is a capital of England.

We’ll learn more about parts of London. Reading. Find in the text. How many people live in London? How many parts are there in London? What are they? Why is City called the heart of the business and financial life of London? (because) Where are places of interest situated? What is the name of one of the well-known galleries in London? Why is East End district for working people? (because) What is the West End?

T: OK you know a lot of places in London. But we can lose our way. It will be very important for you to ask some help. If you know the way you‘ll help the person to find the way. Take these cards and translate them into English. And then show you own dialogue with your partner. You have five minutes to do it.

— Простите меня. Не могли бы вы сказать, как найти Вестминстерское Аббатство.

— О это очень просто. Вы видите Дом Парламента. Рядом с Домом Парламента вы можете увидеть Вестминстерское Аббатство.

— О спасибо большое.

— Простите меня. Я ищу Кровавую Башню. Я так хочу ее увидеть. Не могли бы вы мне сказать, где она, пожалуйста?

— О она просто напротив вас Вы не знаете ,но Кровав я Башня это часть Лондонского Тауэра.
