Travel idioms
He travels fastest who travels alone (разг.
Эта идиома “he travels fastest who travels alone” может иметь и фигуральное значение.
E.g.
You are young, unmarried. You don’t have children. You have so many opportunities! Cheer up! He travels fastest who travels alone!
Travel broadens the mind (разг.
E.g.
This autumn we were in Paris and attended many museums. So I began a great lover of Art. Travel broadens the mind.
E.g.
Everyone has heard about your parting. Bad news travels fast.

I want to spend my holidays somewhere far away from civilization. Popular tourist traps do not attract me at all.
cover a lot of ground (досл.
We covered a lot of ground before we reached “The Northern Capital” of Russia.
I prefer traveling light. I don’t want to be anxious about loss of my belongings.
It is better to travel hopefully than to arrive.
